“describe thor and loki’s dynamic with a single gif”

image

#i love how thor doesn’t even really try to stop loki’s murder knives it’s just a weary hand like ‘oh dear #‘don’t’ #‘can we not do this today’ #‘this has been my entire life do you see’ #‘[softly] loki no’ #this really is the dynamic (via @et-in-arkadia)

EXCEPT NO IT ISN’T AND NO IT HASN’T

When we meet Thor and Loki in Thor (2011), Loki is the cool and collected one and Thor is the maniac who is ready to murder the shit out of anyone who looks at him wrong. This has distinctly not been their dynamic for Thor’s whole life.

How one stupid ass story that Chris made up turns canon and now all Loki is known for is stabbing people his entire life.

*describe Thor and Loki’s dynamic with a single gif*

There, I fixed it.

Thank god someone fixed it

Thank you for fixing this

Thanks for fixing it.

If anyone delights in death and destruction, it’s Thor. Loki was characterized as being non-violent in the original film, which is out of the norm for a male in his society and why he was considered different and strange. Can we please start tacking the word “murder” onto all of Thor’s actions and possessions too?

Oh look, there’s Thor trying to MURDER Loki with his MURDER HAMMER.

I can’t wait to see who he MURDERS with Stormbreaker.

Ugh Ragnarok ruined character arcs like Loki was just used for comedic relief in this movie like I’m sorry he could have teleported the fuck out of so many situations in the movie and like where???? is???? his???? mAGiC???????? Oh and like I get that it’s a THOR movie but can we maybe not promote thor at the expense of Loki ok rant over thank u bye

People forget that Thor is the one that was used to be an arrogant bloodthirsty guy that killed people mainly because his ego was brushed.

Also important: Thor then evolved into a more considerate person under the influence of his new human friends. He always had a natural warmth and gregarious nature, but he took people for granted–Loki in particular.

It was a shame to see Thor’s warmth, compassion, and consideration for others get tossed out the window, since those were the things that made him heroic to begin with.

I am so sorry I am finally not the only one saying this over and over and over and OVER.

I know this is loki focused blog but I wanted to know, are you harry potter fan? Have you seen the new fantastic beasts movie (new one coming out this week)? Who are you favorite characters and dynamic in this world? I love Snape. I love his relationship and dynamic with everyone (harry, dumbledore, voldemort, malfoy, etc). I also love Dumbledore and love his relationship and dynamic with Grindelwald, Snape, Harry.

//I am an avowed Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw cusp :3 , and I have been a Harry Potter fan sinnnnnce….around 2002!  I saw the movies first, up until Prisoner of Azkaban, and at that point I decided to read the books, and over summer of I believe 2004, or maybe it was 2005, I read everything up to the release of The Half-Blood Prince, which was my favorite of all the books because of how it dealt with Draco Malfoy’s indoctrination into basically fascist/eugenicist culture and how he in some ways bought, and in some ways rejected, it.  It was an interesting sociological study of how prejudice is learned, not innate.

I have over the years grown less fond of Snape, because I am a college professor and the way he treated the students under his care, allowing his bias against their parents color his treatment of them, is professionally and ethically unforgivable to me (you can feel free to disagree ❤ he’s a complex character!).  Dumbledore gives me mixed feelings, but I love that Jude Law was cast as him in youth, because Jude is one of my lifetime favorite actors and can handle the nuances of his character on screen.

My favorite character in both books and movies was Remus Lupin, by far: a gentle, quietly principled soul.  I identify closely with Remus (which is why Deathly Hallows was my least favorite book, the way he was treated and then cast aside as a convenient tearjerker death).  Both as a fellow teacher and as a fellow person who feels deeply isolated by the stigma of chronic illness, and ableist culture.  I very much feel like my serious illnesses are as unpredictable and cruel as having a werewolf inside you.

I’m also very fond of Luna Lovegood, Molly Weasley and Hermione Granger.

“Sweetheart,” Balthazar calls softly as he enters their home, hoping not to wake his beloved if Loki is napping. The rainy weather is well suited to naps and Heaven knows Thea adores having her naps with mama. He has bags, some from the farmers market and the patisserie, some from a boutique he’d found that caters to the whimsical and elegant tastes so prevalent in their family. He’s got a pretty little baby blanket of emerald velvet trimmed in sky blue silk. He considers this a sign, of sorts.

Loki looks up from her needlepoint.  She’s not mastered the art of weaving yet, for lack of a loom like her mother’s, but this craft she practices in Frigga’s honor.  The sewing arts powerfully resemble the use of Seidhr: interlocked threads of thought that radiate the incanting words across vast distances on the spiritual plane.

Her expression is both sly and affectionate when her lover enters, and finds her in the process of producing a needlepoint of Sigewif for the very witchling who now sleeps on her lap.  Thea preferred Loki in serpent form, as is more customary, but mama was able to persuade her to wait a while, for progress on her surprise.

“Profitable outing?” she murmurs, quiet enough to keep the toddler sleeping.  She sets aside the needlepoint and reaches for the baby blanket.  She places it over her womb.

Her breasts have been tender, her humors more labile, her appetites strange and her stomach sour.  She has not bled when it was time.  And rune stones have confirmed it.

So she guides Balthazar’s hand over her lower belly, and, while smiling all the slier, simply nods.

A smugly contented Trickster she is.  Loki, ever the most guarded and cautious of souls, introspective, fiercely shy as her truest self, delights in sharing momentous news with her loves ones with eyes aglint and tongue prodding through grinning teeth.  Indirectly, askance.  As in this moment.

“Oh, my sweet fool, stop it.”

Her eyes flush with tears; curse her body and the ungainly ways it accommodates their bright new life.

“Stop it, I said, or I shall weep and kick you away,” she insists, wetly laughing and, quite contrary to her words, gathering the Angel of Families near.  How apt this evidence that some benevolent higher power, unfathomable to her, has deigned to fill her ache for her own clan with the celestial being who nourishes the very concept.

Between kisses she laughs some more, soft breaths like stirring leaves, resigned to the fact that Thea may awaken to her parents in such a state of mutual rapture.

“I might’ve told you sooner, but it has only been several weeks, and I suspected as soon as several days, for we have been trying quite persistently, and I rarely have difficulty, quite the contrary in fact, I’ve carried multiples… eheh, ehh, would you … pay attention, eheheh … . ! I decided … !!!”

She smacks a palm square to the center of his chest.

“I decided that I would tell you today, by having a friend at the market place that very blanket within your purview.  What do you think? Am I very clever? Do continue, now, to praise your wife.”

“You are brilliant,” he praises indeed, “and so clever, and it was so well done I suspected nothing, you wily creature, how incredibly fantastic of you to have gone to such effort to surprise me! I cannot imagine a happier secret or a more joyful trick! My brilliant wife, how bold your wit!”

He kisses her again and again, beaming and crying and feeling so full of love and joy that his heart might very well need to grow larger to hold it all. “You are the epitome of a perfect mother, look at you! You glow, my radiant love!”

Thea is indeed awakening, rubbing her eyes sleepily with a wee, chubby fist and blinking curious hazel eyes up at her parents. She yawns and precariously sits up to clamber fully into mama’s lap and relax against her warm tummy and chest. Thumb in mouth, the sleepy witchling’s little bare feet rest on the couch and she pulls at her soft little shirt to seat the seams that had been twisted in sleep properly once more. Curious, she begins to properly wake up in order to sort out what’s making her parents so excited. She removes her little thumb from her mouth and questions, tiny brow furrowed, “Wha’ happen? I was hab nap.”

In the middle of Balthazar’s affectionate onslaught, Loki breathlessly chuckles, and squashes a hand into his face; her lip curls in childlike, playful glee, a freedom in her movements that has not been in evidence since her godling play with her brother at her mother’s feet.  Her mother … a pang of beautiful pain, the kind that comes with loving too deeply, and missing the beloved, the mentor, the hero.

She staves it off by aiding Thea in sitting upright and adjusting her little shirt. She tidies the witchling’s hair.

“What happened? Why, I told papa something most wonderful, and wanted to wait until you awoke to tell you.  And then we shall go and tell your brother, alright?”  She combs Thea’s curls back in steady rhythms, guiding her awake with a soft and gradual hand.  “You are going to have a new brother or sister, Theophania Joie.  They are growing in mama’s tummy right now.”

“What do you think, little one? Hm?  Do you think you can hug and kiss and watch over a new baby?  I suspect that you will be the best of big sisters.”

To people saying to anyone on ANY end of the gamut–from unabashed excitement to worry and doubt–that how they’re reacting to and processing the news of the Loki series is somehow “bad” or “wrong”:

seriously this is a media form, and there is nothing more guaranteed about the consumption of media than that said consumption will be diverse.  Allow people to respond in the way most appropriate to their preferences and emotional circumstances.  Allow them to be happy, or sad, or something in between.  Hype can give someone a reason to get up in the morning during a discouraging time in their life. It can also overwhelm.  No one’s feelings are “bad,” they just ARE.
