Unpopular opinion: Sif’s jealousy of Loki and Thor’s relationship played a big part in her committing treason against Loki as the King Regent.
I don’t feel like we saw enough of Sif to really be sure about this. It was clear that she had some kind of romantic feelings for Thor. Though I’m not sure why that would inspire her to be jealous of his sibling, unless she thought that sibling was dominating his time and energy. I did not get the impression that Thor’s attitude towards or feelings for Loki were anything worthy of jealousy. If anything, he seemed far more loyal to his buddies, who appeared to exist only to validate his enormous ego. But seeing as jealousy is not rational, there is nothing wrong with this theory.
Mostly I was bothered by the fact that the warriors and Sif were so blindly loyal to Thor as an individual, to the point that they completely ignored perfectly valid Asgardian law. Such as Loki being the rightful king when Odin was indisposed. You don’t get to throw a tantrum because your friend was punished for his behavior and his brother, who you never liked, is now the temporary king. It did not help that Thor appeared to validate their dislike of Loki. And so, they behaved negatively towards him before they had any idea that there was valid reason to be wary of his authority. I didn’t trust any of them after I saw that, and I didn’t blame Loki for not doing so either.
That being said, I think they still got a raw deal in Ragnarok. They deserved better resolution, even for minor characters. I had hoped one of them might redeem themselves and display some pro-social behavior towards Loki, as opposed to the insults and ribbing we’ve seen so far. But I can put that on the list of things I wanted and didn’t get from Ragnarok and IW.
Bitch what the fuck?! I am so done with this fandom! If it’s gonna be Thor 4, I rather have Loki stay dead or Taika will fuck him up even more.
Agreed. Some part of me like to see TW direct another franchise of MCU just so people see how he can ruin it but that’s really not fair for the fans who don’t like his work.
Please no I’m still recovering from the fuckfest that was Ragnarok. The only Marvel film to actually raise my blood pressure
I actually think he’d be WELL SUITED to a Guardians 3. That’s the series that IS APPROPRIATE TO EMBRACE the farcical iconoclasm for which he’s known. I just wish they’d have put him at the helm of THAT series from the start.
