do you think that loki’s notably colder than other people even when he appears to be asgardian?

//Ah crap I answered this more Smartly™ before but I can’t for the life of me remember where I put it in like 75 solid pages of my meta tag, LOL.

Basically, I think Loki is cooler to the touch than the average Asgardian, but not to the extent that people would feel him and think “ew, he feels like a corpse/an icicle!” because even though Loki led a socially sheltered life, his heritage was a secret from people like the Warriors 3 and Sif, who interacted with and physically touched him on a regular basis, and surely with their vigilance about the safety of the realm and its rulers, SOMEbody would have asked him if he’d fallen ill.

Moreover Loki HIMSELF would have wondered, earlier on, if he were “different,” because he is so analytical and vigilant that he borders on paranoid.

I would say he averages a few degrees cooler, but his and Odin’s combined illusion magic during his infancy would maintain even physiological illusions.

HOWEVER: I think that Loki reacts to a non-Jotun environment less than favorably. He overheats easily, and bright lights bother his eyes.

//Hot take but if you think Ebony Maw, a sorcerer who is proficient at torture and brainwashing, the vanguard of Thanos’s Piece of Shit Brigade, didn’t torture Loki–who visibly recognized him in the beginning of Infinity War–in the same ways that he tortured Dr. Strange, to get something Thanos wanted (maybe “is there something in Asgard’s Vault that the Great Thanos could use?”), before handing him off to the Other and giving him the “consolation prize” of the Mind Stone with which to conquer earth, then youuuuuu haven’t watched the same movie I have.

I now have a concrete face to put to the name of Loki’s torturers while he was under Thanos’s control.  The reason why he looked like this

at the end of Thor 1.  The reason why he stumbled and fell and suffered from heat exhaustion in Avengers Assemble, and looked like a living corpse. It wasn’t just the effects of traveling through the Tesseract. Tom Hiddleston said Loki was put through physical and psychological abuse (and my meta tag is full of essays that more thoroughly deconstruct this theory), but he didn’t yet know who the characters were that exacted these methods; they hadn’t been written yet.  Now it’s clear it’s Ebony Maw.

Devil, devil, I defy thee

Oh, the Magpie brings us tidings
Of news both fair and foul,
She’s more cunning than the raven,
More wise than any owl.

image

For she brings us news of the harvest,
of the barley wheat and corn,
And she knows when we’ll go to our graves,
And how we shall be born.

Devil, devil, I defy thee

image

She brings us joy when from the right,
Grief when from the left,
Of all the news that’s in the air,
We know to trust her best.
For she sees us at our labor,
And she mocks us at our work,
And she steals the eggs from out of the nest,
And she can mock the hawk.

Devil, devil, I defy thee

The priest, he says we’re wicked,
For to worship the devil’s bird,
Ah but we respect the Old Ways,
And we disregard his word.
For we know they rest uneasy,
As we slumber in the night,
And we’ll always leave out a little bit of meat
For the bird that’s black and white.

Question! you associate Loki with water (and honestly, your meta on it is spot on) but isnt he also known as a god of fire? How would both work?

//AHHH I love this question!!!! To me that just epitomizes his self-contradictory duality, because both elements suit him well!

I associate Lokes with water because it’s transitional, but then again, so is fire, for different reasons.

Water is yielding, resourceful, malleable.  It’s the agent of mirages and illusions, and it’s forever cycling through nature, eternal. Water is change.

Fire is destructive, but within that very destruction comes new life.  Fire also sustains life as a hearthfire, which is specifically the kind of fire with which Loki is associated in Norse mythology (correct me if I’m wrong, practicing Lokeans ❤ ).  Fire clears old forests, and transforms through its harnessed chaos (another duality).  Fire, too, is change.

Loki is the god of change and transition, so both work associated with him :3

♕?

♕ would your muse hug a monster?
My muse thinks HE is a monster; however he’s come to accept this charged accusation, meant to disempower and marginalize, as a mantle of antiheroism.  He welcomes, champions, his fellow “monsters.”

ϟ

  • Who means the most to your muse? Why?
Thor. It’s always been Thor, it will always be Thor.  Friends, family, and significant others should understand this.  It doesn’t mean Loki doesn’t adore his lovers, spouses and especially his children, but Thor defines Loki, not only as an antithetical agent, but as the best friend he ever had, who knows the most of his secrets, who was at best times his champion, who strove to advocate him even when Loki gave Thor no hope of reconciliation.  This is exactly why Ragnarok Thor breaks my heart, but I won’t go into that yet again.   Listen to the song called The Lightning Strike by Snow Patrol for Loki’s perspective on Thor, and the song Always Gold by Radical Face for Thor’s perspective on Loki, and you’ll understand the almost transcendental nature of their bond.    It’s been my honor and privilege to portray these two as siblings since 2011.

TRUST NATE TO ALWAYS ASK THE REALLY HARD ONES XDDD ❤

  • what is one secret your muse has?
Already answered the Big One here, but another one:  Loki not only envies Thor his unilateral positive regard among the Asgardian people, he has also always wanted to BE Thor: every flaw and attribute, every appearance, every tic and habit.  He secretly hero-worships his brother, but at the same time, he is quite certain that he is an entirely different being and that emulating Thor would be a disservice to himself.  Perfect proof of this is his magically enhanced daydream of wielding Mjolnir and wearing Thor’s red cloak, in his prison cell: “I’m giving the people what they want.” What, or who.
  • ✯ which three traits define your muse?
    Ambiguity, intellect, yearning.
  • ✎ what does life mean to your muse?
Survival itself.  The capacity to thrive despite the odds and despite the enemies is itself a form of honor to Loki (this is why he’s a quintessential Slytherin).  “Always stay gracious; best revenge is your paper,” as Beyonce says.
