//Just a few days remain before we see whether Loki lives or dies.  A few more days before we learn whether his motives are revealed fully in this next film, or saved in obscurity for the last.   A few days before more grouchy naysayers start flinging rotten hate-tomatoes at the character in all his wonderfully complex facets again.  

This is just a reminder that this blog is going nowhere regardless.

This is a NO-NAZI-TOLERANCE ZONE.

As an educator to whom the lives of black, Latinx, Asian, LGBT, Native American, disabled, Muslim, and Jewish students, among other minorities (such as people of Rromani descent), are entrusted–all social groups explicitly targeted in eugenicist and terrorist terms by Neo-Nazis–I REFUSE to give Nazis a platform to disseminate their inhumane and evil ideas.  I REFUSE to consider their point of view. I REFUSE to respect them in any fashion, implicit or explicit.

YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE.

//I don’t want to shove “The Discourse™” down people’s throats, especially since I’m already known to be a “preachy social justice person,”  but please, please understand that “sociopathy” and “psychopathy” both as terms and as discrete concepts in the field of clinical psychology are both outdated and ableist, are thrown around way way too casually in popular media, and more often than not are detrimental to members of the mentally ill community IRL.  If you can avoid calling your favorite local villain one of these terms, and instead maybe just say “asshole” or “jerk” or “person utterly bereft of moral fabric” or “evil doo-doo head” that’d be grand. 😛

There is an updated term that has replaced the above, called “Antisocial Personality Disorder,” usually presenting in juveniles, but with an adult equivalent, as stated in the DSM-V, the manual for diagnosing mental illness in the United States.  But even this term, and many fundamental concepts surrounding so-called Personality Disorders, are complex and controversial.  

If you use the terms “sociopath” and “psychopath” often, in reference to this character or to others, it is a quick path to an unfollow from me.  No hard feelings, but understand that’s just not an ideology I’m comfortable with.

Since I’ve seen this like, a LOT in the past two or so weeks, I feel like making a brief note.  Thanks for reading and for considering my POV and my concerns for my mentally ill and neurodivergent friends <3333

i vacillate wildly between “loki may be dead at the end of april, hurry and make the most of all your threads and relationships!!!!!!!” and “loki may be dead at the end of april, what’s the point in anything” with a smattering of “make an au." 

this blog won’t be deleted or archived either way, but i’m just trying to process that this may be the end of the road for the fictional character to whom i have dedicated more analysis, work, art and creative writing than any in my entire 34 years of life.

 so it’s just. you know. rough.  😭😭😭😭😭

partial hiatus

//So work has begun again, and it’s two full time jobs this semester, though one does not kick into super high gear until the end of spring, but we are also moving house (lol yes, again, but for the last time) in June and you would be amazed to know how hard it is to move when it’s just you and your elderly mother and there is no, and I mean NO, help.  

This means I am re-implementing my partial hiatus (I know, I’m sorry, I never found time to lift it really X-X; ) which means I will still be here all the time, but replies to both Asks and threads will be slower.

//So while I do intend to stay active on this blog until the second week of January when work resumes, for the next day or two I will probably be found over here because the Thirteenth Doctor just appeared for her first bit of screen time last night and my Master muse is SCREAMING.

So I really hate to do this directly after a new Thor movie has been released, but I need to take a step back from the meta side of this blog.  It’s draining and discouraging trying to rehash the same points in the same defense of this character when it feels like, in 2017, there’s no one more open-minded to his gray amorality or compassionate to his canonically proven trauma than there was in 2011, and a whole new wave of fans are determined to pigeonhole him as a flat villain.   

 I had less friction from  my doctoral dissertation committee than I have in response to my advocacy of this character. And this is a hobby, and it shouldn’t be actively depressing me the way it is.  I’m tired, fam.  

I will still be doing IC content on a semi-regular basis, but consider me taking a vacation from doing meta battle on Loki’s behalf for the next month-ish.  

Maybe show some interest in the hard work I’ve already done here for several years, and browse through my meta and loki meta tags, as well as my headcanons tag, for the time being.

Just a reminder.  I know people haven’t been intentionally ignoring this, but the meta questions have kept rolling in and like a dummy I’ve drained myself again already answering them.  

So I really gotta insist that things stay JUST IC for a while ❤ thanks guys! And thanks for all the nice words of encouragement! I’ll be fine, I just need a breather, maybe while people in all factions can kinda…simmer down about this movie, lol! ❤
