We are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face the consequences of his actions.

While we understand that many others share our pain, we ask that you channel your frustration in ways that will make a positive change. We need to work together to fix the system that allowed this to happen

Join us in our campaigns to ensure that every police officer working the streets in this country wears a body camera.

We respectfully ask that you please keep your protests peaceful. Answering violence with violence is not the appropriate reaction.

Let’s not just make noise, let’s make a difference.

guuuuyyyyysssss remember as white people we don’t have the right to tell black people how to react to what’s going on in ferguson, we aren’t affected by this, we don’t have the same experiences as them, and we don’t have the right to tell them to be calm, we are protected by our privilege and telling others to stay calm and not be angry about this when we’ve never had to fear this is not something we are allowed to do stop doing that

Atticus–” said Jem bleakly.
He turned in the doorway. “What, son?”
“How could they do it, how could they?”
“I don’t know, but they did it. They’ve done it before and they did it tonight and they’ll do it again and when they do it — seems that only children weep.

Do you agree with the decision

downeys:

No, I don’t. I think that there was certainly enough evidence to try Darren Wilson in court. Whether there was enough hard evidence amongst everything else to convict him of a crime is another matter entirely, one that I’m not qualified or well-informed enough to discuss. But I think it’s disgusting that he’ll walk away from all this with nothing but a guilty conscience (gee, I hope he feels guilty, at least). There should have at least been a trial.

to my fellow white people who are protesting tonight

3liza:

remember that this isn’t our fight.

it’s not white children being gunned down in the street. we’re here to support. do not speak out of turn, don’t try to steer the protest, don’t speak over the people who are at greatest risk of being shot by cops, don’t voice your white opinions unless asked directly. cooperate with protest organizers, don’t lecture people, don’t try to wrestle your way into leadership positions. stay in your lane. thank you.

//Please pray, meditate, or hold a good thought for all those in Ferguson, Missouri, and all those in some way impacted by the choices made today, both individual and institutional.  This is truly a frightening and discouraging time.

zoealicelostariel:

i’m all for people reinterpreting characters as non-heteronormative.

but in so many cases, the interpretation of specifically male faves as gay comes at the price of ignoring, devaluing, sidelining, or even vilifying the female character who is already in a relationship with one of them.

please stop acting as if the only way to empower (white male) characters is to ship them with other white males.
